Making cheap calls with Skype is going to get easier with this new Belkin Wi-Fi Skype phone. All you need is a Wi-Fi hotspot and your Skype ID to start making free Skype calls from anywhere, without using a computer.
Styled like like the new 'candybar' phones, the Belkin Wi-Fi Skype phone is compatible with 802.11b/g and features WPA and WPA2 security to prevent eavesdropping. Though not yet available for purchase, the phone can be pre-ordered for deliveries on August 31, 2006 from Amazon for US $179.99.
We like the idea and the phone, and at that price it's definitely cheaper than buying a Windows PDA with Wi-FI and loading Skype on it. But, remember a PDA can do so much more and even connect to other SIP networks, if you need them. Of course, if all you need is a Wireless Skype Phone then this one surely beats the rest in price and looks.
